Over 70 graduates and apprentices kick off their careers at Deloitte in Scotland

Posted: 10th September 2024

38 people have joined the firm’s Edinburgh office across practices including audit, tax and financial advisory

Deloitte in Scotland has welcomed over 70 new people to its graduate, BrightStart apprenticeship and industrial placement programmes this week for a blended in-person and virtual induction across Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. A further 18 people will join the firm in December 2024.

The firm’s award-winning graduate programme ranked number four in the latest Times Top 100 Graduate Employer list, and Deloitte was also ranked in this year’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list.

During their first week, the new joiners will take part in an induction programme, which will include an introduction to the firm’s purpose, shared values, sustainability and climate goals; as well as the importance of diversity and inclusion. There will also be opportunities to network with fellow new starters and to meet early careers alumni before immersing themselves in their business area.

Stephen Pratt, Partner at Deloitte in Scotland, said: “At Deloitte, we’re proud to employ graduates, apprentices and those who started at the firm on a work placement. The positive impact they have on the business cannot be understated, they bring fresh approaches and new ideas to make a real difference for our clients and the firm.

“We are committed to fostering an environment where junior professionals and those embarking on a new career path can thrive, develop their skills, learn from each other, and grow into the leaders of tomorrow. I’m very much looking forward to the contributions they will make as they begin their careers with us.”

Ted Porter, new starter in audit and assurance in Edinburgh, joined Deloitte’s graduate scheme last week. He said: “In school, I had a keen interest in both maths and the humanities, and so I chose to study Economics at Edinburgh University.

“Deloitte’s graduate programme was attractive because it will give me the opportunity to study towards a world-renowned qualification while also working with some of the most exciting businesses in the UK. Fortunately, I was successful in the application process and can’t wait to get started in the world of auditing!”

Deloitte’s early careers programmes offer technical training opportunities and professional qualifications. In July, the firm hosted its second Early Careers Week, a week of virtual events dedicated to the professional development of those on the graduate programme, as well as its BrightStart apprentices and work placement students.
