Apex Hotels achieves Gold Green Tourism accreditation across all city centre properties

Posted: 12th March 2025

Apex Hotels is proud to announce that six of its city centre properties – Apex City of London, Apex Temple Court, Apex City of Edinburgh, Apex Waterloo Place, Apex Grassmarket, and Apex City of Glasgow – have been awarded Gold Green Tourism Accreditation. These hotels join Apex City of Bath and Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee, which achieved the prestigious status last year, reinforcing Apex Hotels’ commitment to sustainability across its UK portfolio.

The Gold award recognises businesses that demonstrate exceptional environmental and social responsibility. Apex Hotels was assessed against 15 key sustainability criteria under the themes of People, Places, and Planet, evaluating it’s efforts in energy efficiency, waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and community engagement.

Marie-Claire Watson, Head of Supply Chain at Apex Hotels, who leads the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved Gold accreditation across all of our Apex hotels. Sustainability is a core focus for us, and this award is a testament to the hard work of our teams who are dedicated to making a positive impact.”

Angela Vickers, Chief Executive of Apex Hotels added:

“Today’s travellers are looking for hotels that prioritise sustainability without compromising on quality. At Apex Hotels, we have embedded responsible tourism into our business, and this Gold accreditation is fantastic recognition of those efforts. We will continue to drive innovation in sustainability and create even more eco-conscious experiences for our guests.”

Apex Hotels’ sustainability initiatives include a zero-landfill policy, locally sourced produce to reduce transport emissions, and ongoing investments in energy-efficient technologies. The hotel group also supports a range of national charities, including Maggie’s Cancer Centres and Mind, alongside local community initiatives.

With Gold Green Tourism Accreditation now achieved across all Apex properties, the hotel group continues to lead the way in sustainable hospitality, delivering outstanding guest experiences while making a meaningful contribution to a greener future.
