Capella Edina Appoints Two New Trustees
As the City of Edinburgh’s symphony orchestra, Capella Edina is committed to making orchestral music
more accessible to people from all different backgrounds. In light of this, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Jill Dykes and Col Allan C C Lapsley QVRM TD DL as new members to Capella Edina’s Board of Trustees.
Both, Mrs Dykes and Col Lapsley, are great believers in the power of music and combine a wealth of
experience from the corporate and musical world. As Trustees, they will be integral to the governance and strategic direction of Capella Edina, overseeing the Charity’s financial health, developing long-term goals, and ensuring that we continue to fulfil our mission.
Mrs Dykes and Col Lapsley will play a key role for Capella Edina to gather a group of valuable supporters
and patrons for our upcoming performances at the Usher Hall and our educational programme.
Support can be pledged via our website: www.ce.lsmpublishing.com/support-us/
Mrs Dykes currently works as Head of Events for one of Scotland’s national performing arts organisations. Before this, she spent time as Outreach Manager for the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, showcasing her passion for enabling young people to participate in orchestral music. On her appointment, Mrs Dykes said: “I truly believe in Capella Edina’s mission of making music more accessible and hope I can assist the organisation with my experience.”
Col Lapsley served as the Chairman of Poppyscotland’s Board of Trustees until June 2019. He joined the
Torridon Group as a Director in 1976 after qualifying in Business Studies. In 2004, he was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow and later became the Deputy Chairman and a Vice Chairman (Military) of Lowland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association. Col Lapsley explained: “Capella Edina is a unique opportunity for Edinburgh to cement its standing as one of the cultural capitals of Europe and I am glad I can support this.”
Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Director of Music Luis Schmidt states: “I am grateful that Mrs Dykes and Col Lapsley are in support of Capella Edina’s work and are keen to advance our Charity with their experience.
I look forward to working together to ensure that we thrive in achieving our mission.”
