AtkinsRéalis strengthens position in Edinburgh with city centre office move

Posted: 18th December 2024

AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company with offices around the world, has bolstered its presence in Edinburgh with a move into new permanent offices in the heart of the city.

Around 250 people will be based at the Stamp Office building at 10 Waterloo Place, moving them closer to projects in and around the city for clients such as Edinburgh City Council and Edinburgh University, including the Edinburgh Futures Institute which has just won a global award for design.

There is a keen focus on sustainability and decarbonisation in the newly refurbished office within the A-listed Georgian façade, as the building design upgrades have boosted its energy performance to EPC A as a result of new heating and lighting systems on the AtkinsRéalis floor. Sustainable transport links are also a key driver for this location with Waverley Train Station on the doorstep, as well as bus routes and a new cycle storage, showers and drying room for colleagues cycling to work.

Kirsty Whitfield, regional managing director for Scotland at AtkinsRéalis, said: “We are excited to announce that our new office is now open in the heart of Edinburgh. From this central location, our award-winning teams are well-placed to serve their clients, support local communities, and meet the needs of Edinburgh and the wider region.”

AtkinsRéalis has worked with the city council on a number of projects in recent years such as the George Street masterplan and a climate risk assessment which will enable the local authority to prepare for measures to adapt to climate change.

Its Edinburgh-based teams are also delivering vital infrastructure projects for clients such as Scottish Water and transportation projects including the North Bridge refurbishment. And AtkinsRéalis was recently named Consultancy of the Year for the fifth time at Learning Places Scotland, reflecting its continued leadership in the education buildings sector.

Kirsty added: “Our move into the Stamp Office is a real signal of AtkinsRéalis’ commitment to Edinburgh and as a location we are perfectly situated in the city centre, with easy access from Waterloo Place and Calton Hill and directly next to Waverley Train Station.

“The office space has been designed for agile working with a variety of working areas in order to foster greater connections and collaboration among our teams. We look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional service and supporting our clients on projects that will meet their ambitions for a thriving, sustainable and resilient Edinburgh for years to come.”
