Balfour Beatty appoints Group sector leads for core UK growth markets

Balfour Beatty today announces the appointment of Executive Committee Group sector leads for the company’s core UK growth markets: Energy, Defence and Transportation. These appointments support the Group’s ability to leverage its end-to-end capabilities and further execute its ambitious profitable managed growth strategy.

 

Steve Tarr has been appointed as Group Sector Lead – UK Energy. He will lead the direction of Balfour Beatty’s significant current and future UK energy market opportunities spanning the full energy transition and security spectrum – hydrogen, carbon capture, new nuclear, nuclear fusion, Small Modular Reactors and offshore wind as well as strengthening the UK’s electricity grid. Steve also leads Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution, Rail and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick businesses as Divisional CEO. Steve also acts as Balfour Beatty’s shareholder representative on the Board of Gammon, the Group’s 50:50 joint venture which operates in South-East Asia.

 

Nick Crossfield has been appointed Group Sector Lead – UK Defence, with overall responsibility for the Group’s interest in this evolving and critical market spanning multiple customer interfaces such as Rolls Royce and BAE Systems. Nick continues to lead Balfour Beatty’s Regional Scotland, Regional Buildings, Regional Civils, Balfour Beatty Living Places, Balfour Beatty Homes and Asset & Technology Solutions businesses as Divisional CEO.

 

Phil Clifton has been appointed Group Sector Lead – UK Transport, excluding HS2. Phil will lead the Group’s interest in this significant market, building on Balfour Beatty’s core expertise across major Highways and Rail and harnessing the re-emerging medium to long term opportunities in the aviation market. As Divisional CEO of Balfour Beatty’s Major Projects, Highways and Ground Engineering businesses, Phil joins the Group Executive Committee.

 

Commenting on the changes, Leo Quinn, Balfour Beatty Group Chief Executive, said: “These leadership appointments further strengthen our ability to leverage our unique capability in critical UK growth markets, and build on Balfour Beatty’s leadership capability at a time of exciting growth for the Group.”
