    Student STARS welcome 150,000 passengers at Edinburgh Airport

    A highly successful employability initiative developed by a university and Edinburgh Airport has reached a significant milestone with students having greeted over 150,000 visitors at the airport’s international arrivals area. The Student Tourism Ambassador Role Scotland (STARS) programme, developed by Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport, has been designed to provide outstanding employment and training opportunities for young people. Importantly, STARS also enhances the visitor experience at the airport’s international arrivals creating positive first impressions and strengthening Scotland’s reputation as a welcoming nation.

    Film premiers in Portobello’s historic cinema building

    One of Portobello’s oldest cinemas will sell tickets again for the first time in 100 years. The old building, based on Portobello High Street, will throw open its doors to the public on the evening of 10th of November when it hosts a special film premier event promoting the work of an award-winning Edinburgh filmmaker. The evening aims to raise funds to bring a teenager living in a care home in Malawi to Scotland to learn film production skills.
