Going by bus to Edinburgh Festival has never been easier with Stagecoach

Posted: 31st July 2024
  • One week to go until the Edinburgh Festival starts on Friday 2nd August
  • Improved service frequencies to get festival goers to and from Edinburgh
  • More late-night bus journeys from Fife to Edinburgh

With one week to go until the Edinburgh Festival kicks off for 2024, Stagecoach is thrilled to announce major enhancements to its express services! Festival goers can now look forward to getting to and from the capital as simply and as cost-effectively as possible.

Stagecoach is ramping up the frequency of its popular services from Monday 29th July so travellers on services X54, X55, X56, X59 and X61 can enjoy departures to Edinburgh up to every 5 minutes from Ferrytoll Park and Ride and up to every 15 minutes from Halbeath Park and Ride.

From this date, Stagecoach is also introducing late-night journeys on Service X55 from Monday to Saturday between Dunfermline and Edinburgh, making it easier than ever to get home safely after enjoying a late-night show. After the festival, these night services will continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights only.  And the best part? All existing tickets and passes are valid for these services!

Festival goers with National Entitlement Cards can travel for free during the festival – under 22s, over 60s and disabled passengers can hop on any Stagecoach service without spending a penny.

Stagecoach offers flexible and affordable travel options to and from Edinburgh with the East Scotland DayRider, MegaRider, and Flexi 5 tickets, all available on the Stagecoach Bus App.

For those travelling from Cowdenbeath, Dalgety Bay, Dunfermline, Inverkeithing, Rosyth, Kelty, Ferrytoll Park and Ride, Halbeath Park and Ride, or South Queensferry to Edinburgh, a DayReturn ticket is just £6.50.  If you’re travelling anywhere else in Fife, the DayReturn ticket is only £7.60. Stagecoach plans to add these tickets to the Stagecoach Bus App soon, so keep an eye out!

Douglas Robertson, Managing Director for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “With just one week to go until the Edinburgh Festival, we’re excited to bring these improvements to our Express network to give festival goers more options to get to and from Edinburgh by bus during an extremely busy time. With more services during the day, at the weekend and evenings, it’s never been easier to leave the car at home or at a Park & Ride”.
