Izzy Weatherall, Success Manager at Women’s Business Club, Sets Her Sights on Solo English Channel Swim

Posted: 13th August 2024

Izzy Weatherall, a dedicated Success Manager at Women’s Business Club and a seasoned open water swimmer, is preparing to embark on the ultimate swimming challenge – a solo swim across the English Channel. This daunting 21-mile journey from Dover to Calais is the culmination of over six years of rigorous training, unwavering determination, and a deep-rooted passion for open water swimming.

Izzy’s love for the water began at the age of 12, and since then, she has completed numerous open water challenges, consistently pushing herself to new limits. Now, at 22, Izzy is ready to take on what is widely considered one of the most challenging open water swims in the world.

The journey to this point has not been without its hurdles. Izzy’s Channel swim has been postponed twice due to unfavourable weather conditions, but her resilience and dedication have only grown stronger. “It’s been a six-year journey to get to this point, with countless training sessions, immense dedication, and pushing myself to the extreme. Open water swimming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and now, stepping up to this challenge is incredibly exciting,” says Izzy.

As the swim window approaches, set for 10th – 17th August 2024, Izzy is focused on the final preparations. “The week before the swim always has an odd feeling – so much uncertainty around weather and conditions, final preparations that have been planned for years! Alongside so much hope, excitement, and mental preparation, I’m wondering whether this year will finally give me the opportunity to take it on! It’s all down to external factors now and I’m so excited to hopefully start my adventure to France,” she adds.

Angela De Souza, CEO of Women’s Business Club, expresses her admiration and support for Izzy’s endeavour: “Izzy embodies the spirit of courage and determination that we champion at Women’s Business Club. Her journey is an inspiration to all of us, and we are immensely proud of her for taking on such an incredible challenge. We’ll be cheering her on every stroke of the way.”

Izzy’s swim will be closely followed by her supporters, with regular updates on her training progress and the swim itself being shared across social media platforms. “The support from my friends, family, and everyone I’ve met along the way has been overwhelming. I’m so grateful to share this next step of my adventure with everyone,” Izzy concludes.
