This year we were awarded the prestigious Public Transport Operator of the Year award at the Scottish Transport Awards for our East Scotland operations. We operate journeys up to every 5 minutes throughout the day between Fife and Edinburgh on a high quality network of coach services.
Our customers have been enjoying the benefits of mobile ticketing and contactless payments for some time now, and our app also provides commuters with the ability to plan a journey and track their bus. Customers can also use smart and mobile ticketing which cuts paper ticket usage, reduces boarding time and improves the customer experience.
By utilising the Forth Road Bridge – now a dedicated public transport corridor – our services provide commuters from north of the Forth with faster journeys to the capital. We’re also pushing the boundaries of modern transport by designing and developing the UK’s first autonomous bus service, which will see customers traveling from Ferrytoll Park & Ride across the bridge and into Edinburgh Park’s transport interchange on fully autonomous vehicles. Last year we also introduced 19 brand new innovative coaches to our Express fleet. First of their kind, these new coaches were unique in the fact that almost half of the vehicle’s seating is on a low level, making boarding easier for those with mobility issues and wheelchair users.
We are working in partnership with local businesses in many ways, including establishing bespoke discount schemes for colleagues which give them an extra incentive to leave the car at home, commute by bus and help to ease congestion in the city. We can also work with stakeholders to develop our network based on customer demand, we can look at shuttle services for a large workforce or develop new partnerships focusing on sustainability.
