Your City Needs You To Vote In The British Travel Awards
Edinburgh’s five-star whisky visitor attraction, The Scotch Whisky Experience, is calling on the city to support its bid to be crowned Best UK Leisure Attraction at the 2015 British Travel Awards.
The only Scottish nominee in the category, The Scotch Whisky Experience will battle it out against other attractions including LEGOLAND Windsor, the Tower Bridge Exhibition and the Eden Project to be crowned this year’s winner.
Rounding out the Scottish contingent on this year’s BTA shortlist are Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle, both nominated in the Best UK Heritage Attraction category.
The BTAs are the largest consumer voted programme in the UK with more than 1.25 million votes cast last year. This year voting is open until 30 September.
Susan Morrison, director and general manager of The Scotch Whisky Experience, said: “We are really excited to be shortlisted in the British Travel Award’s Best UK Leisure Attraction category again this year. We’re up against some truly iconic attractions but with the support of local people and visitors who have enjoyed our attraction, we’re confident it can be our turn to take home the prize.
“Our neighbours at Edinburgh Castle are nominated in another category, and with our busiest year to date in 2014, this showcases the strength of tourism in Edinburgh. We’re really hoping people in the city will get behind us and vote.”
Located at the top of the Royal Mile, The Scotch Whisky Experience has been educating visitors about Scotland’s national drink for over a quarter of a century. Seen as the flag-bearer for whisky tourism in Scotland, more than 308,000 people passed through its doors in 2014.
